Rumble from left behind from arson fire.
Especially in central area of some neighborhood. Along with are teacher who was Lori King so we decided to visit different part of area in Toledo which included kenilworth and prospect. Were there alot of arson fire, some of the students have never venture in these areas there were little afraid and scare for me it was normal because I have live around these areas and my husband is from Toledo he have grown up around Toledo and play there as child so use to growing in these neighborhood. And he was Firemen and EMT at Central Central Fire Dept. he was Lt. he knew alot about fire and arson he had the knowledge about fire how they were started and what was use to start them. From seeing these houses and understand why people would burn down these house. As a team we would go around and collect information from the resident who live in the area we were cover for the team project, so the audio team was to interview people ask them questions about the houses if they saw anyone the area. Rest of the students was to take picture of the neighborhood and the house. Why taken pictures I saw alot broken bottles and a toy that was burn from the fire and saw trash cans that were destroy by the fire some were melted from the heat of the fire . Another house I saw a child toy truck was left inside house, one resident show us several that he stated he wanted to buy some house were abandoned by the homeowners he claim people would come and tear out electric outlets and destroyed the bathrooms and take wire coppers and sell to scrap company. Some of residents were not sure they wanted give out there name in fear being target if they spoke to use there were afraid giving out informations. From what I learn cover arson for are team project never understand why some would want to destroy the house is it just for fun seeing someone american dream destroy by aronist or just for kicks.

Owens theater students perform Short Farces play

Cast of Short Farces by Anton Chekhov (Pho 245 /Paula Taylor)
Silvester Rodriguez and Iv Sarah Urizinger perform in the Festivities skit.
Trying to figure out how I would approach my final project was very scary, difficult and a little tricky. In my mind I had so many ideas on how I would shoot it, and how to put my ideas down on paper, especially for this particular assignment.
The first thing was to contact Jeremy Meir, head of the Theater Department, to discuss when I could come by and shoot the play and the actors. I also wanted to know if it was possible to shoot during the dress rehearsal.
The next question was how to approach the actors on stage.
Should I be up close or far away from the actors? I didn't want to bother them during the play. What type of lighting would be used during the play, and how should I set my camera controls?  Could I use my flash while shooting the play?
This was not easy because I never photographed a play before. I was a little excited at the same time. To photograph and shoot a play captures the actor's expressions on their faces. Most of the actors never notice me why taking their pictures.
I feel this documentary experience was a very exciting experience. I hope to have another opportunity to shoot another play again.

Covering the Owens Express basketball team

Owen Expres guard Kevin Clark dribbles ball. (PHO245 photos by Paula Taylor)

Thinking  how I would do my first assignment as a photojournalist was  scary for me.
I had to cover a sporting event. This was my first time to shoot the Owens Community College men's basketball team. One important detail I was concerned about was setting my camera on a fast shutter speed to freeze the action of the game. I did not want to miss the critical moments.
It is good practice to remember small details in basketball, like capturing the basket going into the rim and getting reactions of the fans. Basketball is very difficult to shoot because it's so fast paced. I wanted to catch the expression in the faces of the players and coaches.
It was especially thrilling to see the excitement of the fans and Owens players when Owens made the final point and won the game.

Feature Photography

What Is Feature Photography?

The definition of feature is that it can provide a visual effect and information for the average person. It provides the news to the reader with some sense of understanding the story. Feature can also introduce something very positive balance news that deals with the negative side of the news. Also, feature photography has been viewed all over the world.

I really enjoy doing this it was very interesting and shooting someone for my assignment I have to do a feature on art.  One thing I like about this assignment was taking someone picture, And the dislike was I had to step out of my comfort zone.
